The Orion Tr-Smart DC-DC from Victron Energy is a professional, DC to DC adaptive 3-stage charger with integrated Bluetooth, known in the market as a battery-to-battery (B2B) charger. This charging booster is suitable for use in dual battery systems in vehicles (vans) where the alternator and starter battery are used to charge the service battery. The charger can be used in 12V or 24V systems and is suitable for both lead and lithium batteries. An unlimited number of devices can be connected in parallel to increase the output power.

Monitoring, changing settings and updating the charger with new software features can be done using any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet or other device.

Adaptive 3-stage charging algorithm: constant current – constant voltage – maintenance

  • For lead batteries, it is important that the absorption time is kept short during shallow discharges to avoid overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the constant voltage time is automatically extended to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
  • For lithium batteries, the recording time is fixed, default is 2 hours.
  • Alternatively, a fixed output voltage can be selected.

remote on/off

A remote-controlled on/off switch or a relay contact can be connected to the two-pin plug. Alternatively, connection H (right) of the two-pin plug can be connected to a battery positive terminal or connection L (left) of the two-pin plug can be connected to the battery negative terminal (or, for example, to the body of a vehicle).
