Smart battery monitoring
The SmartShunt from Victron Energy is an all-in-one battery monitor. It connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app on your phone (or tablet) and you can easily read out all monitored battery parameters, such as state of charge, remaining time, history information and much more. Settings can also be easily changed via it.
Alternatively, the SmartShunt can be connected and read by a GX device. The connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable.
The SmartShunt is a good alternative for a BMV battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is required but less wiring and mess is desired.

Why is battery monitoring important?
Batteries are used in many different areas, in most cases to store energy for later use. However, the battery itself does not display the amount of energy stored.
The service life of batteries depends on many factors. Undercharging, overcharging, deep discharge, excessive charging or discharging currents and high ambient temperatures can shorten the operating time. By monitoring with a battery monitor, the user receives important feedback to take countermeasures to extend the battery life if necessary.
