With the BMV-712 battery computer from Victron, you always have everything in view. It shows all important information such as the current power consumption, battery voltage, remaining running time and battery capacity. It also warns of low voltage. With the integrated Bluetooth module, all information can be displayed and configured on a smartphone or tablet, etc. The BMV-712 collects all data, which can then be easily exported and analyzed.
The BMV's current consumption is only 0.7 Ah per month (1 mA) at 12 V and 0.6 Ah per month (0.8 mA) at 24 V. Lithium-ion batteries in particular have almost no capacity left when discharged to the point of low voltage shutdown. After low voltage shutdown, the reserve capacity of a lithium-ion battery is approximately 1 Ah per 1000 Ah of battery capacity. The battery will be damaged if the remaining reserve capacity is taken from the battery. For example, a residual current of 10 mA can damage a 200 Ah battery if the system is left in a discharged state for over 8 days.
One damaged cell or one damaged battery can destroy a large, expensive battery bank. When batteries are connected in series, measuring the midpoint voltage can provide a timely warning. Please also refer to the BMV manual, section 5.2 for more information.
Victron recommends the Battery Balancer (BMS012201000) to maximize the lifespan of series-connected lead-acid batteries.
